If your flight is overbooked you could be entitled to compensation up to 600€ and a refund and more!

The EU Rights rules on flight overbooked
If you booked a flight and you have a confirmed reservation on the flight that either departed from Europe or was with a European airline, you’re protected by the Denied Boarding Regulation if your flight is overbooked.
If you’re more than three hours late arriving at your destination you could also be entitled to claim for overbooked flight compensation.
When you are offered re-routing on an alternative flight and the arrival time of the re-routed flight does not exceed the scheduled arrival time of the flight originally booked as described above at section „Delay“ the compensation is reduced by 50%.
In determining the distance, the basis shall be the last destination at which the denial of boarding will delay your arrival after the scheduled time. The distances shall be measured by the great circle route method.

If an insufficient number of volunteers comes forward, and the Airline deny boarding to you against your will, compensate the Airline you:
Compensation for cancelled flights depends on the reason for the delay.
If the airline can prove the cancellation was caused by ‘extraordinary circumstances’, no compensation is payable.
Extraordinary circumstances are situations beyond the control of the airline, for example, security risk, political instability or severe weather that makes flying dangerous. Strikes are also usually included in this category.
Although you are not entitled to financial compensation for flight cancellations in these circumstances, you are entitled to the meals, refreshments, accommodation and hotel transfers depending on the length of your flight and delay (as explained above).

You are entitled to compensation amounting to:

  • EUR 250 for all flights up to 1 500 kilometres;
  • EUR 400 for all flights between 1 500 and 3 500 kilometres;
  • EUR 600 for all flights of more than 3500 kilometres.
